TurnOver Components
TurnOver gives you the power to manage your entire software development lifecycle. Every TurnOver module was designed over one database with the same purpose in mind — to manage any software change environment as efficiently and reliably as possible.
Why is such integration important? Productivity. All TurnOver modules share the same iSeries database so you never have to re-key data. Everybody has immediate access to the information that affects their job from the work environment they prefer, and that data is automatically updated at every step of the project. And your IT department does not have to worry about synchronizing data from multiple servers if something goes wrong.
The TurnOver solution encompasses:
Issue Tracking
ExpressDesk™
Optional front-end to TurnOver consists of two modules: browser-based self service for end users and a full service IT helpdesk. End users can search TurnOver's
WiseDesk knowledgebase for answers to their questions, as well as enter and
track their own requests. Helpdesk helps tech support personnel resolve issues
quickly. It logs calls, manages end user requests and turns them into development tasks when needed, initiates your
audit trail, and reports task status. Escalation queues ensure nothing is
overlooked.
Project Management
TurnOver Projects
Tracks and reports the status of all changes from initial user request to distribution on local or remote production systems. Here you can view all details related to a particular task: status, linked documents, screen shots, URLs, and more. Automated messaging keeps relevant people informed as task progresses through its lifecycle. Includes task and time tracking and reporting for efficient project management.
Analysis
Cross-Reference Database
Dynamically maintained database ensures that you will always find all related iSeries objects, including nested ILE modules, to include on your Worklist and promotion Forms. TurnOver also works with Hawkeye's Pathfinder™ and ASC's Abstract™.
Source Compare and Merge Utility
Quickly identifies differences between two versions of a source member.
Change History Database
Maintains a change registry for all software under TurnOver's control to speed up future development and audit analysis.
Support for Customizing Packaged Applications
TurnOver's Synchronizer saves substantial time and effort in retrofitting your in-house customizations to new vendor releases. Includes full source compare and merge utilities.
Development
iSeries Change Management
Offers secure checkout (including from vendor-supplied source), source/object version control, and conflict resolution. Presents a complete view of the development project with a worklist of artifacts to be changed, as well as access to cross-reference, source-compare information, and other tools for fast redevelopment of objects. Provides logical framework for safe emergency changes. Automatically handles compile sequencing and database management, including recreation of logical files over physical files — a single-step process that you schedule at your convenience.
PC/Java Version Control
Provides advanced version control, source compare and merge, release management, and change history for PC, Java, and Web development teams through its TurnOverSVN module.
WebSphere Studio Plug-Ins
Supports both native and non-native developers working in WDSC or any other Eclipse-based IDE. Developers get single-view access to all the tools they need, plus seamless, unified management of iSeries and Web applications.
Development Tool Interfaces
We built many APIs into TurnOver so that you can integrate the tools you already have into its framework. TurnOver works with dozens of software products such as Hawkeye’s Pathfinder™ and tools like LANSA™ and AllFusion 2E™.
Testing/QA
Automated Promotions
Automates movement of files into any number of test environments for an effortless handoff between development and testing. Fully repeatable process acts as dress rehearsal for promotion into production.
Deployment
Software Distribution
When your software changes are ready to "go live," TurnOver can distribute them across your entire network to iSeries and iSeries LPARs, UNIX, Windows, and Linux servers. Provides multi-platform support via iSeries IFS.
Remote iSeries Installation
Receives and installs changes in iSeries libraries (recompiling objects, if necessary), and passes status at every step to the source system without manual intervention.
Recovery and Rollback Options
Object archives back up your iSeries source and object code so that if your installation fails for any reason, your application can be restored automatically to its previous state.
Workflow & Other Features
Enforced Workflow
Define and enforce specific workflow procedures and authorities across all collaborating departments and development teams for greater process efficiency and cleaner audits.
Administration and Setup
Control TurnOver users and authorities, configure applications, fix distribution settings, set global defaults, define type codes, and create and run TurnOver forms. Visual JPEG format means that everyone can understand at a glance how an application is defined and managed. XML output speeds technical support.
Application Configuration Wizard
Simplifies application setup and configuration. To define a new application, users simply bring up an Application Wizard and fill out the prompts. Easily override defaults for unique or more complex requirements.
Release Management
TurnOver handles multiple versions of applications reliably so you always get the right source, distribute the correct version to each target system, and do not forget to update other versions.
Interfaces
You can use TurnOver's many APIs to bridge to utilities or to manage in-house changes to vendor application packages such as those listed below:
